Felabration Festival

Felabration Visitation Campaign By Biire Health and Development Initiatives-2

FELABRATION FESTIVAL is an annual event which takes place at the New Africa Shrine in Lagos to commemorate the life and times of Nigeria’s foremost musical icon Fela  Anikulapo – Kuti. It is a festival of music, poems and performing arts as well as a talent hunt. Over the years, Felabration has attracted numerous highly popular musicians and their fans from all over the world.

This weeklong celebration of the late Afro-beat legend usually attracts a crowd of about 2,000 people particularly the youths from all over the world to the New Africa shrine. Prior to the inception of this event, there had been no known HIV activities. Hence, it is of great importance that Biire Foundation integrated HIV prevention and testing into the Felabration jamboree.

For these reasons, Biire has integrated the HIV campaigns into the Felabration festivities in order to sensitize youths on HIV transmission and prevention and to provide and promote client-friendly HCT services.
